Tencent's Dungeon and Fighter Mobile says release will be delayed

Tencent has also launched a new California-based studio, as it looks to further expand its presence overseas

SHANGHAI:

Dungeon and Fighter Mobile, a game that was due to be published by Tencent Holdings on August 12, said its release will be postponed due to upgrades needed for the game’s addiction prevention system.

Dungeon and Fighter made the announcement on its official WeChat account late on Monday, without saying how long the delay might last.

The game, which is based off one of Tencent’s three largest legacy personal computer games, is forecasted by analysts to be one of the Chinese gaming company’s blockbuster releases this year.

China’s biggest social media and video game company also launched a new California-based studio, as it looks to further expand its presence overseas.

The new studio, LightSpeed LA, will be led by former Rockstar veteran Steve Martin and will focus on the development and publishing of AAA titles, Tencent Games’ LightSpeed and Quantum Studios said in a statement to Reuters.

Tencent is trying to build an array of studios overseas with the goal of creating content with original intellectual property that has global appeal.
