A Frontier Corps (FC) soldier was martyred while two others sustained injuries due to firing from across the Afghan border on Wednesday, according to a statement of Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR).

The military's media wing said that mortar and heavy weapons were used during the firing in Bin Shahi area of Dir district of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (K-P).

On July 30, at least three people were killed and 20 injured as shots were fired after protesters stormed a quarantine centre at the border gate over not being allowed to enter the neighbouring country.

A woman was among those slain in the incident as protesters set ablaze a quarantine centre setup for Covid-19 pandemic along with Pak-Afghan Bab-e-Dosti gate.
