The Sindh Livestock and Fisheries Department provided vaccinations as well as medical and other facilities to over 2.14 million animals across the province in July.
According to a report presented to provincial livestock and fisheries minister Abdul Bari Pitafi, 227 relief camps were set up in 26 districts, where over 200 veterinary doctors and over 400 veterinary paramedical staff were deployed. Further, over 876,000 large animals and over 1 million small animals were vaccinated, while medical facilities were provided to about 56,000 animals and drenching facilities to more than 180,000 animals.
Pitafi stated that due to the monsoon rains, the department’s focus was on timely vaccination of animals, while poultry farmers were informed about how to keep their birds safe during the rainy weather. He added that authorities had been utilising all available resources while the standard operating procedures defined by the government were also being implemented.
