3,000 tonnes of offal disposed of in Sargodha

A total of 487 vehicles and other machinery were used during the cleanup operation

SARGODHA:

About 3,000 tonnes of sacrificial animals’ remains were disposed of in Sargodha that during the three days of Eidul Azha, Deputy Commissioner Abdullah Nayyar Sheikh said on Monday.

Speaking to the media, he stated that on the first day of Eid, 1,400 tonnes of waste was picked up whereas on the second day 1,300 tonnes was picked up.

On the third day, around 300 tonnes of sacrificial animals’ remains were lifted from various city areas and disposed of in the pits created for the purpose at Chak No91NB and Model Town.

He further said that a total of 487 vehicles and other machinery were used during the cleanup operation under 23 local governments across the district.

In addition to deployment of 1,200 sanitary workers, 31 tractor trolleys, 14 dumpers and 1,200 handcarts were used.

The DC highlighted, “The cleaning operation during Eidul Azha holidays continued uninterrupted from 5am to midnight.” Separate control rooms had been set up at district and local government levels for immediate redress of sanitation complaints, he added.
