ISLAMABAD:

The enforcement directorate of the apex civic agency in the federal capital on Friday razed a marquee which was being built along Kashmir Highway in Sector G-12.

The Capital Development Authority (CDA) said that the authority had previously stopped construction of the allegedly illegal marquee on what the authority deemed was state land. Its owners had also been warned not to continue construction work on the project.

However, the authority claimed that the owners of the marquee ignored CDA’s directives and continued construction work. At this, the CDA Enforcement Directorate, with vehicles from the Machine Pool Organisation (MPO) and with assistance from the Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) administration and Islamabad police razed the structure on Friday.

In separate operations, the enforcement directorate demolished five illegal boundary walls, four illegal rooms, four gates, a kitchen and two bathrooms in the Bair Imam area. Meanwhile, the under-construction illegal walls on a roof in a slum located adjacent to Awami Market in Sector G-7/2 were also demolished.

The staff of the Enforcement Directorate also demolished a fast food shop in Musharraf Colony in Sector G-8/4 during a separate anti-encroachment operation.

Similarly, a team of the directorate conducted an anti-encroachment operation in street 50 of Margalla Town and demolished an under-construction boundary wall on state land.
