FBISE announces results for HSSC-II exams

ISLAMABAD:

Girls clinched most of the positions in the Higher Secondary School Certificate (HSSC) Part-II Annual Exams 2020.

The Federal Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education (FBISE) on Thursday announced the intermediate examination results. The exams could not be conducted due to the novel coronavirus (Covid-19) and results were prepared under the "Promotion Policy of Federal Government" whereby students were declared passed based on their performance last year.

As a result, of the 71,482 regular, private and ex-students deemed to have appeared in the exams, which 66,635 were declared as passed, a pass percentage of 93.22 per cent.

In a ceremony held at the FBISE headquarters in Islamabad, girls were hailed for being dominant and clinching the top slots in 2020 HSSC exams.

Parliamentary Secretary for Federal Education and Professional Training Wajiha Akram said that conducting exams, announcing the results and opening of schools were major challenges for the government in the wake of the pandemic.

Matric, inter exams may be delayed or cancelled

Earlier, FBISE Chairman Rao Atiq Ahmad said that this year, they have uploaded the result on the website. The physical result card of students shall be dispatched to them at their registered addresses or respective institutions.

In the Humanities Group, the first position was secured by Zainab Afzal from the Public School and College in Jutial area of Gilgit with 1,000 marks. The second position was clinched by Haleema Gul from Islamabad Model College for Girls (Post Graduate) F-7/2 with 995 marks. The third position was secured by Muhammad Hassan from the Institute of Islamic Sciences Satra Meel with 983 marks.

In Pre-Medical Group, the top three positions were clinched by girls from the Army Public School and College for Girls on Humayun Road in Rawalpindi Cantonment. This included Saira Azhar with 1,088 marks, Aneesa Rashid with 1,085 marks and Mahnoor Fatima with 1,081 marks.

In the Pre-Engineering Group, the top two positions were clinched by students of Hamza Army Public School and College on Stadium Road in Rawalpindi. They included Minahil Nadeem who secured 1,075 marks and Ayza Amer with 1,073 marks. However, the third position was shared by Ahmed Mohsin from the Punjab College of Science in Blue Area of Islamabad and Rakhmeen Gul from the OPF Girls College in Sector F-8/2, having secured 1,071 marks.

Clearing the air: Matric, inter students to be promoted without exams​​​​​​​

In the General Science Group, the first position was shared between Hira from Askari College for Girls on Wing Market Road in Rawalpindi and Suman Asim from the Pakistan International School in Al-Jubail, Saudi Arabia, with 1,065 marks.

In the Commerce Group, the first position was taken by Khalid from Fauji Foundation College for Boys in New Lalalzar area of Rawalpindi with 997 marks. The second position was clinched by Said Ali from the Pakistan International School in Doha with 983 marks, while the third position was taken by the Mahnoor Qaiser from Punjab College Campus of Hill House Boarding School in Sector H-11/4.
