HYDERABAD:

A policeman, whose body was found floating in the Phuleli canal in Badin district on July 13, was allegedly killed by his wife and two men, claimed a police investigation team on Thursday.

According to DSP Sabir Ali Gaddi and SHO Niaz Ahmed Panhwar, the slain policeman, Nazeer Ahmed Mastoi, was allegedly killed by Waseem Ahmed Khan and Rasheed Ali, with the help of Mastoi’s wife, Parveen.

The police stated that Khan wanted to marry Mastoi’s daughter but Mastoi repeatedly rejected his proposals, while Parveen had no objections to the marriage.

As a result of this, the suspects abducted Mastoi from his home, tortured him and threw his body into the canal with his hands and legs tied, they added.

The police claimed that they had been aware of Mastoi’s troubled relationship with his wife and this had given them several leads in the investigation.

A case has been registered against the accused under Sections 365, 302, 201 and 34 of the Pakistan Penal Code, pertaining to murder. The car used to take Mastoi from his home to the canal has also been impounded.
