Three police constables deployed at the Peshawar Central Jail have been arrested for supplying drugs to inmates. A police spokesperson said that the officers were caught red-handed trying to supply drugs to a prisoner on Wednesday by an investigation officer. One of the implicated officers, identified as Safiullah, used to hide the drugs in his socks and then supply them to prisoners. The three officers have been suspended and an FIR was registered against them. An inquiry has also been launched into the matter. According to jail police, the drugs which were smuggled into the facility include crystal methamphetamines (ice), heroin and hashish. A crackdown has been launched against people smuggling drugs inside prisons.
