The maternal uncle of a married woman was killed allegedly as he was trying to protect his niece from physical assault by her husband at Mauza Wahi Baig in Khangarh.
Police officials said that a youngster named Kashif, a resident of Basti Durrani Wala, had married a woman named Salma Bibi. Reportedly, Kashif was not on good terms with his in-laws so he did not allow his wife to meet her parents for the last one year.
On Monday, Salma Bibi, along with her eight-month-old child left for her parents’ home for a short period. When Kashif came to know about his wife’s departure, he immediately rushed to his in-laws’ home.
He attempted to beat his wife for not obeying his instructions.
However, the maternal uncle of Salma, named Shahbaz Hussain, tried to stop Kashif from assaulting her.
In a fit of rage, he opened fire at her uncle. Resultantly, he was killed at the spot. Khangarh police arrested the suspect and started investigation into the incident.
