We’ve all heard the age-old anecdote that imitation is the best form of flattery. But, is it flattery or a rip off when two celebrities attempt to rock the exact same design aesthetic but months – and borders – apart?
If you remember, Bollywood’s favourite diva, Kareena Kapoor Khan, rocked a gorgeous, light minty sari by Urvashi Sethi for The Kapil Sharma Show late last year as she went around promoting her comedy-drama Good Newwz. The starlet starred next to Akshay Kumar, Kiara Advani, and Diljit Dosanjh in the film.
The sari’s highlight was Kareena’s widely known nickname, Bebo, emblazoned on the pallu in stunning calligraphy.
Now, exactly 7 months later, Pakistani actor Noor Zafar Khan posed in a petal pink sari by Minaahil Umar on her Instagram, looking radiant as ever. But what caught our eye more than the sari itself was her name ‘Noor’ painted on to the pallu, in exactly the same script as Bebo’s!
Think that’s a coincidence, an attempt at flattering the ultimate diva that is Kareena, or more?
A side by side comparison obviously shows the difference in styling – while Kareena, styled by Rhea Kapoor, kept her tresses pinned back in a bun leaving a couple of romantic strands loose, Noor chose to let her mane down, pinning back the front layers.
The two also paired completely different blouses with the sari with Kareena opting for a one-shoulder blouse, baring the other one completely. Noor, on the other hand, paired hers with a more demure, full-sleeved blouse with frill detailing.
The leaves, flowers, and the calligraphy on the sari itself, however, are identical! What do you think it was; a fashion face-off or a rip-off?
