A retired police official allegedly shot dead his son at their house in Kashmir Colony, Mehmoodabad on Friday. Bashir Masih reportedly gunned down his son, 30-year-old Anees alias Sunny, and fled the scene. According to the police, Anees was shot five times. In her statement to the police, Masih’s wife said her husband and son had had a row over the latter’s marriage. She explained that they were supposed to visit the house of Anees’ prospective in-laws in a few days to arrange his marriage, but Masih was not agreeable about it. She added that Masih and Anees argued over the matter on Friday night and as the fight escalated, Masih shot his son. She further claimed that Masih used to torture and beat her and Anees, lamenting that he had not given them anything from his retirement funds but instead had fled with her jewellery and savings. The body was shifted to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre for medico-legal formalities. The police are investigating the matter.
