Women robbers gang busted by police

Accused used different tactics to lure people in over 100 robberies

Police claimed to have arrested 14 suspected robbers including 10 women involved in more than 100 robberies, highway robberies and thefts across the city.

Jewellery, cash and arms worth millions of rupees had reportedly been recovered from this gang of men and women.

DIG Investigation Shehzada Sultan said when he took charge as the investigating police chief, he called for a record of all the incidents of murder during the robbery and studied the investigation. The study found that the robberies involved either female maids or male servants who relayed information from the victims to the accused.

A special police team headed was formed that visited the homes of the victims and made the sketches of the employees. The SSP told The Express Tribune that he the investigation made progress when Saddar CIA police arrested six women who went to posh areas to seek employment in apartments.

After a few days of honestly doing their housework, they allegedly noted the working members’ timings of when they left the house for their jobs. The accused then inspected the cupboards containing money and jewellery.

A few days later, as soon as they got the chance, they would intoxicate the victims using drugs directly or in food and then robbed the house with fellow female robbers and thieves.

These women include Nazia, Shabana, Ladli Bibi alias Shazia, Pathani bibi and their companions Waheed and Shahid. Police recovered jewellery, cash and mobile phones worth Rs1.8 million from the accused. During the interrogation, the accused revealed dozens of crimes.

They also said that they would give fake photocopies of their identity card in the house where they worked and change mobile numbers after the crime.

The SSP, while speaking about the arrest of another gang nabbed by City Division CIA police, highlighted that the gang consisted of four women and four men.

“The way of robbery of these women is different from that of the first gang. The ringleader of the gang was a girl named Bismillah from Lohari area of Lahore.”

She brought together three women from her own neighbourhood including Aqsa, Karan and Sameera and went to shopping malls where they stole valuables from shoppers, he added.

Lahore DIG Operations Ashfaq Ahmad Khan said that citizens were urged not to employ unknown women in their homes and to register them at the police station concerned before hiring them.
