Over Rs6.79b approved for urban development

Chairman stresses on upholding merit, ensuring transparency while using funds

The Punjab Planning and Development (P&D) Board approved on Friday more than Rs6.79 billion for the completion of the development schemes of the urban development sector in the second meeting of the Provincial Development Working Party (PDWP) for the financial year 2020-21.

The approved development schemes include land acquisition, land compensation, tree planting and Rawalpindi Ring Road project goods transfer.

An amount of Rs15 billion had been allocated for the annual development program of 2020-21, out of which P&D Board has approved release of funds over Rs6.79 billion.

Punjab Planning and Development Board Chairman Hamid Yaqub Sheikh, while chairing the meeting, stressed that the development projects should be completed on time and no delay in development projects would be tolerated.

“Funds should be used in the development schemes keeping in view merit and transparency,” he added.

Punjab Planning and Development Provincial Secretary Imran Sikandar Baloch, P&D Senior Chief (Coordination) Javed Latif, P&D Assistant Chief (Coordination) Shahid Idrees, members of the Punjab Planning and Development Board and senior officers of the relevant provincial departments were also present during the meeting.
