7,000 cops to be deployed in Hazara Division on Eid
The Hazara police have chalked out a comprehensive security plan to provide security in the division during Eidul Azha with the deployment of at least 7,000 police personnel.
In directions issued to the eight district police officers, Hazara Division DIG Qazi Jamilur Rehman on Thursday said that keeping in view the ongoing novel coronavirus (Covid-19) pandemic, the responsibilities of the police force have increased many folds.
He said that apart from maintaining law and order, they will also have to implement the government’s directives on the pandemic, including the observance of minimum social distance between people, use of face masks and avoiding crowded spots in the city’s main shopping areas and bazaars.
Rehman further directed DPOs to enhance their patrolling in the markets set up for the sale and purchase of sacrificial animals and other bazaars.
Tourists told to leave
The Galiyat Development Authority and the Galiyat District Administration has given all tourists in the region to leave within 24 hours.
Owners of hotels and private rest houses, including official residences and private bungalows, to ensure that all guests leave the area without any delay.
Officials said that the action is being taken because of directives from the Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (K-P) government to keep all tourist spots in the region closed during the Eid holidays.
It added that tourists will not be allowed in the hilly areas during the religious festival.
