Millat Town police registered case, complainant undergoes medical test

The chief traffic officer has suspended a traffic warden accused by a colleague of sexual assault and an inquiry into the complaint has been assigned to the DSP City Traffic.

Millat Town police had registered the case and got conducted the medical examination of the complainant.Upon receiving the report of the incident, the chief traffic officer suspended the warden and handed over the inquiry to the DSP Civil Line Traffic. The initial inquiry report confirmed that the lady warden had been sexually abused.

The lady warden posted in the Sargodha Road traffic sector had made the allegation in an application submitted to the chief traffic officer. She alleged that Sargodha Road Traffic Sector Duty Officer Mubashir Saeed Bajwa called her and said that she had been assigned duty in the office of the chief traffic officer and he would take her there.

According to the lady traffic warden, the duty officer picked her in a car from Misaq Maal. She stated that she was taken to a deserted dera in his village near Satyana Road and sexually assaulted at gunpoint by the accused. Later, he left her at her duty point and escaped.

Chief Traffic Officer Sardar Asif Khan suspended Traffic Warden Mubashir Saeed and handed over the inquiry to DSP Civil Line Traffic Naseem Akhtar. When the complainant and accused officials were summoned for interrogation, it was reportedly revealed that they earlier had friendly relations.
The chief traffic officer told The Express Tribune that a formal inquiry into the matter had been handed over to DSP City Traffic Babar Anwar. As soon as the report is received, action would be taken in accordance with it, he said.

As a case has been registered in Millat Town police station, the police will take action after receiving the medical reports. In this regard, when the DSP Civil Line Traffic was contacted, she said her inquiry into the matter had been completed, but she was unable to share the details in this regard.

Regional Police Officer Raja Rifat Mukhtar, while talking to The Express Tribune, said there is no place in the department for employees who bring it into disrepute. Upon completion of the inquiry, the chief traffic officer will take action against the official involved in the incident in accordance with the law. He added that the mutual relations of employees also lead to issues which might damage the reputation of the departments. The police department is making plans for ethical training of employees, so that such incidents do not happen in future, he said.
