Popular actors Priyanka Chopra Jonas and Deepika Padukone are two of the most successful and renowned female faces of Bollywood. Both the stunners have proved their mettle in the industry and beyond and have a massive fan following in reality and on social media.

However, the Mumbai police have been investigating a case related to paid and fake social media followers for a while now, according to Filmfare. And after overviewing and monitoring Chopra and Padukone’s massive fan following on social media, the Mumbai police had recommended an inquiry.

According to reports, Mumbai's Joint Commissioner of Police Vinay Kumar Chaubey has stated that they have found around 54 firms who have a hand in the fake social media followers scam. The news reports further states that a man called Abhishek Dinesh Daude has reportedly been arrested by the Criminal Intelligence Unit (CIU) of the Mumbai Police for making fake social media accounts.

Apart from Padukone and Chopra, however, there are 174 other high-profile personalities who have been shortlisted for interrogations by Mumbai Police in this fake social media followers scam. Not to mention, there are several other celebrities from the political, sports and entertainment world who are still under the scanner and might be questioned in the future.
