To ensure cleanliness in the city, over 3,000 sanitary workers of Rawalpindi Waste Management Company (RWMC) and Albayrak will be assigned cleanliness duties on Eidul Azha.
In this regard, the RWMC has finalised a comprehensive contingency plan for the collection and disposal of entrails and offals of sacrificed animals on Eidul Azha.
An RWMC spokesperson said that as many as 3,225 workers, including cleaners and supervisory staff and other officials, will be deputed to carry out an effective operation for collecting and properly disposing of entrails, offal and waste of sacrificial animals.
For this purpose, he added that 37 transfer stations at various locations in Rawalpindi and Murree will be set up where the waste will be dumped temporarily and later on taken to the permanent landfill.
"Special teams will use more than 352 vehicles including 144 mini-dumpers, 30 pickups, 12 loaders, 48 compactors, five loading bikes, 42 rental dumpers, and additional 200 wooden carts for efficient & effective waste management on the occasion of Eidul Azha", he said.
Further, under the plan, the company will distribute special bags among the people for the safe disposal of animal remains. These bags will be used especially for binning waste during Eid days.
The spokesperson added that the awareness drive and waste bags’ distribution was already started two weeks ago. He said that special cleaning arrangements would be done for the graveyard, slaughterhouses, Imambargahs, mosques, and collective slaughter sites where workers will sprinkle lime powder at sacrificial places.
