Regularisation of industries: ‘No notice to be sent to businesses’

Wasa and LCCI given till Aug 15 to meet and draw up proposals so that necessary amendments could be made

Punjab Minister for Industries Mian Aslam Iqbal has assured the Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI) that no notice will be served on businessmen for the regularisation of industrial units until a new master plan for Lahore is finalised.

According to a statement, the minister made the remarks during a meeting with business community at the LCCI on Wednesday. The minister said the issue of regularisation of scattered industrial zones would be resolved once the new master plan for Lahore was prepared and implemented. On the demand of LCCI President Irfan Shaikh, the minister directed the Water and Sanitation Agency (Wasa) managing director to resolve the issue of disparity in water charges in different cities, adding that growth of businesses was a top priority of the government. He directed Wasa and LCCI to meet and draw up proposals till August 15 so that necessary amendments could be made.
