An anti-terrorism court handed over on Tuesday Muhammad Junaid to the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) on a five-day physical remand in a case pertaining to the provision of financial assistance to Indian intelligence agency Research and Analysis Wing's (RAW's) sleeper cells through hawala- an alternative system that operates parallel to traditional banking channels.
The FIA investigation officer informed the court that Junaid had been involved in funding RAW's sleeper cells in Karachi for terrorist activities.
Junaid was arrested by the FIA during a raid in Dhoraji on Tuesday.
FIA officials claimed that Junaid was the manager of a money exchange company and his accomplices were running the hawala network from Dubai.
