PESHAWAR:

Bilateral trade with Afghanistan is a critical component of the incumbent government’s policy to boost international trade, hence the provincial government will facilitate bilateral trade with the western neighbour as well as the Afghan Transit Trade.

This was stated by K-P Chief Minister Mahmood Khan during a meeting with a delegation of the executive committee of the Pakistan-Afghanistan Parliamentary Friendship Group on Monday.

Trade activities with Afghanistan, border management at Torkham Terminal, capacity enhancement of Custom on Torkham Pass and other relevant issues were discussed during the meeting.

Mahmood said that the relevant departments should devise a long-term strategy to remove all the bottlenecks in the bilateral trade with Afghanistan. Participants of the meeting agreed to devise an effective coordination mechanism amongst the provincial government, relevant federal departments and other stakeholders to streamline matters related to Afghan Transit Trade.
