ISLAMABAD:

The Geographical Indications (GI) Law will protect local products like Peshawari Chappal, Multani Blue Pottery, Hunza Apricots, Hala Ajrak, Kasuri Methi, Chaman Grapes, Turbat Dates and many other such products, said Adviser to the PM on Commerce Abdul Razak Dawood.

Speaking after a meeting of the Senate Standing Committee on Commerce on Monday, he underlined that the policy of the government was to get premium prices for Pakistan’s products in the international market as a lot of companies sold them without any branding of the origin of these products.

Dawood added that the standing committee appreciated the coordination between parliament and the Ministry of Commerce for the enactment of GI Act.
