As Trump’s niece exposes his dark side

In a new book authored by President Trump’s niece Mary Trump, some startling revelations have been made about the President’s personality. The book, Too Much and Never Enough, sold about one million copies on the first day of its publication — an unprecedented record for any book.

Fearing a scathing critique of some of the President’s traits, his brother Robert sought to block the book’s publication. The court however turned down his plea.

In a candid assessment of her grandfather’s role in the evolution of the family, Mary calls him a “sociopathic bully” who crushed kindness and empathy out of those around him including the current President. Mary alleges that upon his father’s death, Donald took over the property and business although her father Fred Jr was older than Donald.

In an interview with The Washington Post, Mary called the President “clearly racist” and linked it to her family’s kneejerk anti-Semitism and racism. She confirms she has heard him using racist language and that “he is incapable of doing the job” of president. She then revealed that the President’s older sister, Maryan Trump Barry, did not think Donald would or should be president. His sister very emphatically did not believe it would happen because he was a man without principles. She was horrified by the white evangelical embrace because she knew Donald had no deep convictions about religion. His sister also added Donald considered going to church a “photo-op”.

These disclosures are by no means surprising. But close relatives claiming that the “President has no principles” is a staggering blow to his credibility — if he had any in the first place. His anti-Semitist views being made public by an insider should jolt those who believed he is acting out of conviction in support of Israel. Now this comment reveals he was just pandering to the Jewish lobby when he shifted the US embassy to East Jerusalem and recognised Israel’s rule over the disputed Golan heights. This was all expediency or hypocrisy. By announcing the so-called “deal of the century” he was bowing down to the powerful Jewish lobby in the US — all tricks to gather political support regardless of whether the national interests were being advanced or harmed.

The unequivocal statement about the President’s principles has been sufficiently demonstrated on many occasions in the past three years. His withdrawal from Iran’s nuclear deal and the trans-Pacific trade agreement are some of instances where he repudiated binding agreements with other countries that had been worked out after months of negotiations. The latest bizarre move of withdrawal from WHO was just another manifestation of how a person who is captive of his own bigoted, myopic mindset can risk the interests of his country and imperil world stability and peace.

The important point is how a person with such personality disorders could manipulate his way to reach such heights of fame and glory and succeed in winning the support of an informed electorate to emerge as the elected leader of the world’s most powerful country.

Is it then an aspersion on the US election system of election or on the political parties or the electorate itself? Can white evangelists steer someone to victory if they only see some hope of their misguided doctrines being promoted? Has a time come to review the election process in order to contain or restrict the influence on voters of such groups as white evangelists who seem to have created deeply entrenched ‘constituencies’ that operate to advance paranoid ideologies of hate and exclusion? People like Trump endowed with enormous resources would always depend on such “devious forces” to win support and impose their half-cooked theories to sustain it — all aimed at personal glorification and mostly at the expense of the country and its people.

In exposing the President’s other side, his niece has made a notable contribution to creating awareness about the dangers that lie ahead if structural remedial measures are not adopted to counter the diabolic effects of the system’s perverted lobbies.
