Rejecting the prolonged closure of educational institutions, All Sindh Private Schools and Colleges Association president Haider Ali demanded that educational institutions be reopened from August 5.

Speaking on Friday, Ali maintained that the future of millions of students, many of whom had been forced into child labour, was being put at risk. He added that the organisation of examinations at educational institutions was proof that schools and colleges can be opened under a set of standard operating procedures.

"Education is life and life should not be stopped," he claimed, insisting that Prime Minister Imran Khan, Chief Justice of Pakistan Justice Gulzar Ahmed and the National Coordination Committee must announce a clear policy for educational institutions, so that the uncertainty of students, parents and schools could be alleviated.

He added that the government should care about the financial crisis that private schools were facing and announce interest-free loans for them.
