Customs officials foiled an attempt to smuggle foreign currency, mobile phones, gold jewellery and cosmetics at Jinnah International Airport on Thursday. Customs officials told The Express Tribune that a passenger, Shahab Hussain, had not declared jewellery, mobile phones and foreign currency. When officials searched him and scanned his luggage, they found $13,410 in cash and gold jewellery worth Rs2.5 million in his possession. Moreover, 45 mobile phones worth around Rs2.1 million, cosmetics worth Rs10,855 and food worth Rs 33,400 were recovered from his bags. They arrested him after registering a case under the Customs Act.
