Losing weight can be a bit of a struggle, especially if you are looking to tackle that stubborn belly. A lot of us have been down in the dumps because that pouch would not budge, and according to experts, there is a reason for that.
Dr Shikha Mahajan, holistic nutritionist and founder of Diet Podium says indigestion, hormonal imbalance and a sedentary lifestyle can be the prime causes of this. “Bloating and chronic constipation are caused by indigestion and they can be tackled by including fibre and ginger in your diet. It is also important to drink lots of water,” The Indian Express quoted her.
According to Mahajan, another helpful way to flatten that pouch is drinking zeera and ajwain water. “Soak them at night and drink the water the next morning,” she shared. The negative effects of a sedentary lifestyle can also be reversed with the help of good fat like almonds and walnuts.
Dr Mahajan also recommends the use of berries and avocados to combat hormonal imbalance. “Cortisol is a stress hormone that disrupts the normal functions of other hormones. It causes imbalances that cause spikes in hunger, upping your total calories intake. It also causes insulin imbalance which makes our body deposit fat in the belly. Foods like berries, avocados, nuts, yoghurt, pears and papaya help lower the cortisol levels,” Mahajan explained.
As compiled from The Indian Express, here’s a list of some foods that can help you in your quest!
Eggs
Eggs help in appetite reduction as they keep you full for a long time. They help in keeping the metabolism high, and can easily replace a heavy carb-based diet.
Nuts
All kinds of nuts are generally considered super effective in reducing belly fat. Due to their omega-3 content, they help in tightening the belly and can also counter inflammation.
Yoghurt
Yoghurt works much the same way as eggs – it helps in appetite reduction. This is also why it is advised to be consumed regularly. A report in CBS News states that yoghurt helps in the growth of healthy gut bacteria, thereby reducing bloating.
Citrus fruits
Citrus fruits work to increase your metabolism, and what’s more, vitamin C helps in making your skin health better!
