Rescue officers attend WASH workshopd

The 2nd Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) training workshop regarding Covid-19 was organised for rescue and safety officers (RSO) on Tuesday. The workshop was organised by Rescue 1122 in collaboration with VSO Pakistan at the Emergency Services Academy. The purpose of the five-day workshop was capacity building of RSOs and to train them as master trainers regarding Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 6 to promote WASH during the virus pandemic. Other objectives included safety promotion and prevention of emergencies during the pandemic in all tehsils and towns of Punjab. While addressing the ceremony, Rescue 1122 DG Dr Rizwan Naseer said the trainings would enhance the capacity of the managers to maintain service standards in all districts of Punjab. Course Coordinator Deeba Shahnaz informed the DG that 51 RSOs and safety instructors attended the workshop in two groups over a five-day period. She further said that the lead trainer Muhammad Ahsan along with the officers also held different practical activities, including donning and doffing of protective gear, hand washing technique, waste management and water purification to give a detailed insight on understanding of WASH with reference to SDG 6 and Covid-19.
