LAHORE:

Punjab Emergency Service (PES) Director General Dr Rizwan Naseer reviewed the flood preparedness arrangements of districts of Punjab at risk of flooding on Monday.

He presided over a video conference of district emergency officers at Rescue 1122 Headquarters and instructed them to ensure that joint mock drills were conducted in the districts which were at risk of flood.

The conference was also attended by all the district officers and heads of various departments of the Rescue 1122.

The DG urged all the district officers to continue the mock drills for checking motor boats and other related equipment and also conduct emergency evacuation exercises.

“During a flood, shelters and camps would be needed for mass evacuation where people can be provided social distancing, hygiene, and facilities including masks, soap and other hand wash items to prevent the transmission of coronavirus.”

On the occasion, the DG directed the DEOs to ensure the provision of medical facilities in case of emergency evacuation during floods, personal care for the health of the displaced persons and supply of safety equipment to camp management for emergency evacuation in case of floods.
