Police arrested two robbers while two others fled after an alleged encounter in Ghulam Muhammadabad area on Monday.
Police officials said that the police received information that four armed robbers had snatched a motorcycle as well as Rs185,000 from a citizen at gunpoint near a graveyard on Qaim Sain Road. A police team reached the spot and besieged the outlaws on Rasheedabad Road.
The police ordered the outlaws to surrender but they opened indiscriminate fire at the team. Police returned fire and during the encounter two robbers sustained bullet injuries and fell on the ground, while their two accomplices managed to escape from the scene.
Police arrested the injured robbers who were later identified as Mehmood, son of Ghulam Rasool, and Ali Adnan, son of Hafeez. The accused were wanted by the police in a number of robbery and other cases. Raids were being conducted to arrest their accomplices who had escaped, police officials added.
