Two incidents of child molestation have been reported in Kunganpur and Chunian.
Azeem, a resident of Mastuwal, lodged a complaint at Chinuan Saddar police station that Adnan, a resident of the village, came to his home on July 11 and lured his six-year-old nephew into going out with him to bring something to eat. The boy went with Adnan but he took him to the fields near his house and molested him.
The complainant said the accused fled from the scene and left the child crying.
Chunian Saddar police have registered a case against Adnan on the complaint of the child’s uncle Azeem, arrested the accused and started investigation.
In Kunganpur, a six-year-old boy was playing outside his house in Attari Akike village when he was lured by a local villager, Abdul Rashid, to fields near the village on the pretext of buying something from a shop.
Majority of child abuse suspects set free due to poor investigations
The accused molested the child in the fields and fled from the scene. Kunganpur police have registered a case against Abdul Rashid on the complaint of the boy’s father Ghulam Mustafa and arrested the accused.
According to Kasur police spokesperson Sajid Hussain, the children’s medical examination has been completed in both the cases.
He added that the accused have been arrested and are being interrogated.
Meanwhile, the official in charge of a police patrolling post at Noorpur has banned motorcycle riding without helmet.
SI Muhammad Sadiq the ban had been imposed on the orders of the additional inspector general of Punjab Highway Patrol. He said riding a motorcycle without a helmet is tantamount to suicide. He pointed out that about 90% of deaths in motorcycle accidents were caused by head injuries, so wearing helmet was must for the safety of the motorbike riders.
The official said an effective public awareness campaign was also being launched in this regard through advertisements, posters and banners at key locations, as well as the social media.
