PESHAWAR:

To prevent the novel coronavirus (Covid-19) from spreading, the provincial government has finalised a set of safety guidelines for cattle markets which stipulate that the markets will be established outside urban areas.

This was stated by the newly-appointed Adviser to Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (K-P) Chief Minister on Information and Public Relations Kamran Bangash as he briefed the media at the Information Cell in the Civil Secretariat on Sunday.

The provincial government has issued a set of standard operating procedures (SOPs) for the cattle markets before Eidul Azha to protect the people from Covid-19, he said.

Bangash said this year, several small markets will be set up to avoid the heavy rush of people looking to purchase sacrificial animals in the large markets.

Arrangements will also be made to avoid congestion around the cattle markets. For this purpose, the traffic police have been tasked with coming up with a traffic management plan for these markets.

The district administration will also check the condition of these markets while no cattle market will be allowed to operate unless it is registered with the government.

“The elderly and the children will not be allowed to enter the cattle markets,” he asserted, adding entry into cattle markets without face masks will be barred.
