Faisalabad to have 13 cattle markets for Eid

No fee will be charged for sale of sacrificial animals, says DC

FAISALABAD:

The district administration has notified 13 sites for establishing temporary cattle markets outside the city for the sale and purchase of sacrificial animals for Eidul Azha from July 15.

According to a notification, the cattle markets will be set up at Danola, Millat Road; Chak 241RB Chanchal Singhwala, Jhang Road Bypass; Chak 239RB Khanuana, Satyana Road; Tanki Ground Dijkot; near Guttwala, Syedwala Road; near Chak 240GB, Jarawala; Railway Ground near Benazir Park, Saim Nulah Khurrianwala; and adjacent to New Green Market, Faisalabad Road, Samundri.

Other sites selected for the purpose include Hockey Ground, Canal Road Tandlianwala; Chak 423GB; opposite Punjab College, Satiana Road Tandlianwala; Bangla Chowk Bakar Mandi Mamukanjan; and Sports Stadium Chak 187RB Jhumra, Faisalabad Road. The necessary facilities for the traders and customers of sacrificial animals will be provided by the municipal committees.

Deputy Commissioner Muhammad Ali has made clear that no fee of any kind would be charged for the entry or sale of sacrificial animals in the temporary markets. He said the role of middlemen would be discouraged in the markets to avoid exploitation.

The official said the assistant commissioners had been assigned duties to monitor and supervise the arrangements in the markets of sacrificial animals.

Confusion prevails over Eidul Azha cattle markets

He ordered livestock department officials to establish veterinary dispensaries at the markets and inform the cattle owners about the precautionary measures required to save the sacrificial animals from ticks, Congo virus and other epidemics diseases.

He also directed the health department to set up medical camps at the sites of the cattle markets in view of the coronavirus pandemic and arrange residual insecticide spray and fogging. He said adequate security and traffic arrangements should also be made for smooth functioning of the markets.

The deputy commissioner said the standard operating procedures (SOPs) to prevent the spread of coronavirus should be followed and no one should enter a cattle market without face mask. The entry of elderly peopled and children into the markets would be banned. He also directed the officials to ensure checking of visitors with temperature gun at the entry points and availability of hand sanitiser at prominent places. He asked the ACs to make all the arrangements before time so that the cattle markets could be made functional on Wednesday.
