Coordinated measures to cope with rains urged

FDA DG says equipment to drain rainwater should be kept ready

Faisalabad Development Authority (FDA) Director General Muhammad Suhail Khawaja has asked officials of the Water and Sanitation Agency (WASA) to follow a coordinated strategy for implementation of a plan prepared to provide relief to the citizens in case of any emergency during heavy rains likely in the monsoon season.

He was presiding over a meeting to review WASA’s preparations to cope with the challenges of monsoon season. FDA Additional Director General Amer Aziz, WASA Managing Director Jabbar Anwar, DMD Adnan Nisar, Administration Director Shoaib Rasheed, Operation Director Shabbir Ahmed and other officers attended the meeting.

The FDA director general said all special arrangements should be ensured and the authorities should be on high alert to drain out rainwater from low-lying areas in the city. He said the entire machinery should be kept functional besides increasing the capacity of WASA disposal stations and manpower.

He said close coordination should be developed with the metropolitan corporation, Parks and Horticulture Authority, Rescue 1122, Civil Defence, Waste Management Company and irrigation, agriculture and other departments so that their equipment and other resources could be utilised in case of any emergency due to heavy rain.
