The Rawalpindi district administration has established some 100 fair price-flour shops in different areas of the city to stop flour hoarding and price hike.
All these shops have been set up with coordination of flourmill owners where the citizens can get a 20 kilogramme (kg) flour sack at Rs860 or Rs43 per kilogramme.
The administration’s action follows refusal of grocers to sell flour at official rates.
The district administration officials informed that the fair price shops have been established in different areas including Bani, Saidpur Road, Dhok Hassu, Dhok Kashmirian, Sadiqabad, Satellite Town, Dhok Khabba, Jhanda Chichi, Khayaban-e-Sir Syed, and other areas.

The officials said that the staple commodity was abundantly available at every fair price shop. They have been established on the recommendation of the Rawalpindi Deputy Commissioner (DC) Anwarul Haq that he had given to the flour mill owners, they added.
Assistant Commissioners (ACs) have been directed to visit these shops to ascertain that the daily-use commodity was available as per the demand. The district administration has clearly warned that the shortage of flour would not be tolerated at any cost.
