PESHAWAR:

With the vast majority of the construction work on a high-rise for government employees in Hayatabad complete, the housing ministry was on Thursday directed to hold computerised balloting for allotment of flats in the project on July 20.

This was directed by the Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa Housing Minister Dr Amjad Ali on Thursday as he presided over a monthly review meeting of the department

The housing minister was briefed on various ongoing projects of the department in the province. He was told that 78% of construction work on the high-rise in Hayatabad area of Peshawar has been completed. Further, he was told that two blocks of the scheme, A and B, are expected to be completed this month.

Dr Ali directed to complete the computerised balloting to allot plots in the structure on July 20.

Participants of the meeting were further briefed on the progress made on the Jerma housing scheme in Kohat. The minister was told that construction on the project had been delayed due to litigation on 37 kanals of its land.

On the establishment of satellite towns in various districts of the province, the meeting was told that project concept-II (PC-II) had been approved and a survey for identifying suitable land will soon be carried out in Kohat, Bannu, Dera Ismail Khan, Laki Marwat, Peshawar, Abbottabad, Malakand, Khyber and Mardan. The housing minister directed to expand the survey to Swat and Bajaur as well.

To set up the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) City in Nowshera, the meeting was told that around 80,000 Kanal of land has been acquired and handed over to the Frontier Works Organisation (FWO).

Similarly, around 70% of the construction work has been completed on the Jalozai Housing Scheme, however, the novel coronavirus (Covid-19) pandemic has affected the allotment and transfer of possession process. The plots will now be transferred in December.

Dr Ali directed to ensure the projects are completed on time. He further asked the department to start construction on those sections of the Jerma housing scheme which are not disputed or under litigation.

The housing minister took notice of reports of illegal mining in areas for the CPEC city and directed to take action against those involved in the practice.
