ISLAMABAD:

Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Thursday sought answers to the respondents including the Cabinet Division Secretary in two weeks in the Public Procurement Regulatory Authority (PPRA) irregularities case. Justice Miangul Hasan Aurangzaib ordered the Cabinet Division Secretary to appoint a responsible officer to appear in the court in the next hearing pertaining to irregularities in PPRA. The court remarked that the government’s representative would have to satisfy the court if all rules and regulations were followed in the appointment of PPRA Managing Director (MD). The petitioner, Hafiz Arfat, had maintained that there was no prescribed procedure devised for the appointments of PPRA board members and its MD. He had further sought amendment in the PPRA Ordinance for making deployment transparent.
