Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) officials arrested a suspect, who had previously fled after being shot and injured in a police encounter, on Wednesday. According to CTD DSP Chaudhry Safdar, the suspect, Muhammad Faizan, revealed during initial interrogation that he and his accomplices had opened fire at police officers on May 8 upon being stopped after a robbery. Safdar added that according to Faizan’s statement, he was shot in the leg as a result of retaliatory fire by the police but managed to escape while his accomplices, Fayaz, Yasin and Abdullah, were arrested after also being injured. He added that he had treated his wounds at his house. Faizan has a past criminal record and has been arrested previously as well.
