DSP martyred during police encounter in Swabi
One militant was also killed while two were injured
A senior police official in Swabi district was martyred and two other officials were injured during a police encounter with militants on Wednesday.
The incident occurred in the Kalu Khan village of tehsil Razzar. Acting on an intelligence tip-off, police raided a suspected militant safe house.
The suspects opened fire on the police officials after their arrival and as a result, DSP Allam Iqbal embraced martyrdom and two others were critically injured.
A suspected militant, identified as Naseer, was also killed in the police action while two others were reportedly injured and managed to escape.
Soon after the incident, police parties started a manhunt in the area for the escaped suspects.
Naseer was wanted for attacks on police, security forces and extortion.
