QUETTA:

Residents of Quetta gathered outside the office of Sui Southern Gas Company (SSGC) and complained of overbilling by the gas company during the month of June. They complained of additional charges in recently-received bills while the company did not issue bills in the month of June. The residents claimed the bills were unjustified according to the size of their houses and the consumption of gas. A resident lamented company workers threatened to remove gas meters while they didn’t provide proper gas supply to the houses. Another man complained of receiving Rs35,000 bill out of which he had paid an installment of Rs5,000. However, the company again sent a bill of Rs34,000 to the consumer in the current month. The SSGC, on the other hand, maintained the complaints were being delayed due to coronavirus lockdown in which the offices were closed.
