Court orders FIR against five doctors

The Jamshoro district and session court ordered on Saturday the registration of an FIR against five doctors of the Liaquat University Hospital for letting a pregnant woman and her unborn baby die in the hospital due to negligence. Hearing a petition filed by the woman’s brother-in-law, Rustam Burfat, the court ordered the nomination of additional medical superintendent Dr Niaz Babbar, Dr Shahzad Saleem, Dr Zubaida, Dr Pardeep Kumar and Dr Urooj in the case. Burfat claimed his sister-in-law had died due to the negligence of the doctors in the gynaecology ward. 

Man, son killed in road crash

A man and his son were killed while his wife sustained severe injuries in a road accident near Ranipur on Sunday. The family had been travelling to Karachi from Punjab when their car collided with a trailer-truck on the National Highway. The deceased were identified as 28-year-old Umair and his two-year-old son Orhan. The deceased and injured were taken to the Gambat Institute of Medical Sciences for medico-legal formalities and treatment, respectively.

The injured woman is said to be in critical condition. The police have impounded the trailer-truck and are investigating the incident while searching for the truck driver. No case had been registered until the filing of this report. 

Woman dies after ‘self-immolation’

A woman succumbed to her burn injuries during treatment at the Gambat Institute of Medical Sciences on Sunday after she allegedly set herself alight following a domestic dispute. The deceased had allegedly torched herself over a domestic issue two days before her death. Her body was handed over to the family after the completion of medico-legal formalities. While there were rumours that she may have been set on fire by her husband, she had given a statement saying she had set herself on fire.
