40% of Covid-19 beds occupied in Pindi
Number of positive cases soars past 6,318
RAWALPINDI:
The number of novel coronavirus (Covid-19) patients who are receiving treatment in the public hospitals of Rawalpindi has dropped drastically, with health department officials stating that now, around 60 per cent of the beds dedicated for virus patients now vacant.
Health department officials said that the confirmed coronavirus cases in all three allied hospitals in the city, including the Benazir Bhutto Hospital (BBH), the District Headquarters (DHQ) hospital and the Holy Family Hospital (HFH) have dropped by around 40 per cent. Currently, they said, only 48 patients were receiving treatment at BBH, and another 18 were admitted at HFH.
Meanwhile, 35 Covid-19 patients are under treatment at the Rawalpindi Institute of Urology and Kidney Transplant (RIUKT) - a health facility which was dedicated to treating coronavirus patients since the early days of the pandemic.
Sources said that if the trend continues and the patients recover, the healthcare facilities will not have any coronavirus infected patients until next week.
However, it suggested that people were still required to follow precautionary guidelines to prevent a new cluster of virus-infected patients from developing.
Meanwhile, officials said that some 114 new Covid-19 cases had been reported in the city, taking the total number of cases to 6,318.
