PESHAWAR:

Maninder Singh, a father of three and a wholesale trader in People’s Mandi Peshawar, died along with his wife, son and mother in the tragic train accident that took place on Friday.

Maninder, 26, was in the coaster carrying the Sikh pilgrims who were en route to Nankana Sahib to condole the death of a relative. The coaster collided with the Lahore-bound train at a railway crossing near Sacha Soda.

He was rushed to a hospital for medical treatment but died on the way.

His father, Savinder Singh, had also died in a traffic accident six years ago.

The 26-year-old had migrated from Terah's Khyber Valley to Peshawar 10 years ago. He started his business in wholesale of electronics, power cables, batteries and other electrical appliances in People Mandi Peshawar. He got married a few years ago.

On Friday, at least 20 Sikh pilgrims died and several others were injured in a collision between a train and a coaster in Sheikhupura.

Secretary-General Pakistan Sikh Gurdwara Prabandhak Committee Sardar Amir Singh said the deceased belong to three or four families.

Federal Minister for Railways Sheikh Rashid ordered immediate action against those responsible for the tragic incident.
