Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Mahmood Khan on Thursday was informed that the Central Development Working Party had approved the PC-1 for land acquisition for phase 2 of the Swat Motorway Project and submitted it to the National Economic Council’s executive committee for final approval which is expected to be granted during a meeting on July 6.
The meeting chaired by K-P CM was also apprised about the completion of Swat Motorway Phase 1 which is in its final stages as work on the construction of road base, main tunnels and bridges has been completed and the remaining work is expected to be completed by the end of August this year.
It is pertinent to note that the pace of work on the project was impacted due to the prevailing pandemic.
Terming the project as vitally important, the provincial chief executive said it will boost business and tourism activities and create employment opportunities for people.
The CM directed authorities to ensure completion of the project by end of August.
He was also informed about progress pertaining to the Peshawar to DI Khan motorway project. He was told that the PC-2 had been cleared whereas the PC-1 for financial and commercial feasibility of the project would be completed by September this year and forwarded to the relevant forum for approval.
