Mahesh Bhatt's latest cinematic venture, Sadak 2, starring his daughters Alia and Pooja Bhatt, and Aditya Roy Kapur is getting slammed on social media ahead of its OTT release.

The director released the first poster for the much-hyped film on Monday, which saw the comments section filled with cries of boycotting the film and general hate for 'star kids' stemming from the untimely death of actor Sushant Singh Rajput. Many have blamed nepotism in Bollywood for Sushant's depression and his subsequent suicide.

Sharing the poster on Twitter, Bhatt wrote, "When you come to the end, you discover that there is no end," and his tweet was immediately met with backlash from the public, with people calling him out for belittling Sushant and his mental health earlier in his career. Comments ranging from personal attacks on the Bhatt family to simple #BoycottSadak2 filled the replies.

One user wrote, "When #Sadak2 will become utter flop you will realize that there is an end," while another said, "Don't forget Sushant's sacrifice #BoycottSadak2."

A user also mentioned that he won't be watching even on an OTT platform like Hotstar. "I will not even watch it on Hotstar... This is the sadak (road) that will lead you to your redemption," they wrote. "Let's take a pledge to boycott these perverts' films. Let's stop it for promotion of merit only," wrote another.

Alia herself also shared the poster on her Instagram but turned off the comment section for public comments, meaning that no trolls could infiltrate her comments. However, her co-star, Aditya Roy Kapur also shared the poster on his Instagram and was, of course, bombarded with hate. While Aditya himself is the brother of a big Bollywood producer, Siddharth Roy Kapur, majority of the hate was directed towards Alia and her father.

"Sorry, after all these popping truth, atleast I am boycotting," said one comment. "Not going to see at any cost," read another while yet one other said, "Dude no ones gonna watch Mahesh Bhatt's movie."

Sadak 2 will serve as the sequel to Mahesh Bhatt's 1991 hit Sadak and is produced by his brother Mukesh Bhatt. The film features the original film's lead couple, Sanjay Dutt and Pooja Bhatt in addition to Alia and Aditya.

The filmmakers decided to forgo theatrical release thanks to the coronavirus pandemic, taking the film directly to streaming platform Disney+ Hotstar for an OTT premiere.
