16 cattle markets to be set up in Rawalpindi
The online system for purchasing sacrificial animals has failed badly
RAWALPINDI: The district administration has decided to set up 16 cattle markets in the garrison city where strict precautionary guidelines would be implemented.
These markets would be established on Adiala Road, Sawan Camp, around GT Road, Rawat, Johar Chowk, Pirwudhai, Chakri Road, New Katarian, Pirwudhai Mor and one in every seven tehsils of the district. They are expected to be established in the first 10 days of next month.
Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the administration has waived off all charges and taxes on the vendors. It has decided to impose a soft ban on selling cattle in neighbourhoods and streets other than the designated markets.
Prices of sacrificial animals rise manifold
The online system for purchasing sacrificial animals has failed badly as people are more interested in buying them after personally examining their various features.
Meanwhile, several mosques in the district have started bookings for collective sacrifice. As of now, a share in a cow begins from Rs12,000 and goes up to Rs20,000, depending on the size of the animal.
