The suspect robbed Rs1 million at gunpoint from the cash counter

RAWALPINDI: A security guard was injured while resisting a bank robbery in the precincts of Gujjar Khan police station on Thursday.

According to preliminary investigations, the suspect robbed Rs1 million at gunpoint from the cash counter.

However, when the suspect, identified as Jabar, was fleeing, the bank’s security guard, Zafar, tried to stop him.

The suspect opened fire at guard and two bullets struck him, leaving him critically injured and fled. The victim was then rushed to the district headquarters (DHQ) hospitals by the locals. Gujjar Khan SHO, along with heavy police force, reached the site and cordoned off the area. The police collected the evidence and carried out interrogation from those held hostage during the robbery.
