 LAHORE: The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Lahore has filed a reference in the accountability court against former prime minister Nawaz Sharif and Jang/Geo owner Mir Shakil-ur-Rehman in the illegal plot allotment case.

NAB Lahore has filed a Rs143.5 million reference, in which it had also nominated former director general of Lahore Development Authority (LDA) Humayun Faiz, and Mian Bashir Ahmad. After the filing of the reference, Judge Asad Ali of the Lahore Accountability Court issued notices to the accused for June 29.

The reference against Nawaz Sharif and Mir Shakil-ur-Rehman comprises two volumes and includes 21 witnesses. NAB Lahore had arrested Mir Shakil-ur-Rehman for illegally registering 54 kanals of land in Johar Town Lahore in his name.

Nawaz Sharif, on the other hand, is accused of illegally benefiting Mir Shakil-ur-Rehman. Nawaz Sharif was the chief minister of Punjab at that time and on his orders the LDA had given concession to Mir Shakil-ur-Rehman.
