AC ‘detained’ when he raided grain market to check health SOPs

MULTAN: Over 50 traders were booked for allegedly detaining local assistant commissioner when he raided grain market of Shujabad tehsil to check the implementation of coronavirus SOPs and control food hoarding on Wednesday.

Police said trader Khawaja Shakeel, along with 50 of his accomplices had detained AC Mubeen Ahsan after closing down the grain market.

The accused surrounded the vehicle of the district officer along with subordinate staff and allegedly abused them verbally for conducting raid in the market.

ASP Singhar Malik, on receiving information, reached the spot, dispersed crowd and provided security to the AC and his staff.

All attackers were booked with the City Police Station on report of the AC. The accused trader managed to flee and police started searching him out.
