Case registered against two, unidentified armed assailants

ISLAMABAD: Two unidentified assailants have been booked for allegedly attempting to murder a deputy superintendent of police (DSP).

According to the first information report (FIR) registered on Monday by the Gujjar Khan police,

Additional SHO Muhammad Abbas said that he was working with Homicide Investigation Unit (HIU) Sub-Inspector Tehzeebul Hasan in the SHO’s room at the station.

During this time, the Gujjar Khan DSP arrived at the station. He parked his vehicle outside the precinct and walked in. Later, the DSP's driver tried to bring the vehicle into the station when he was suddenly attacked.

Abbas said that police officials present in the police station rushed out to see what had happened. Abbas said that he saw two, unidentified armed men riding a motorbike. One of them, the additional SHO said, got off the motorbike, pulled out a handgun and fired at the DSP’s vehicle. He then boarded the bike, which was being driven by his accomplice, and fled.

Abbas said that a bullet struck the windscreen of the DSPs car while the other hit the bumper. A third bullet was lodged in the door to the SHOs room.

However, no casualties were reported in the incident. According to the FIR, the prime suspect was wearing a white dress and had stubble on his face and had wrapped a cloth around his face. He appeared to be between 35 and 40 years-of-age.

Police ask citizens to file complaints online

Regarding the other suspect, the report said that he was comparatively young and appeared to be 25 to 30 years-of-age. He was wearing a black trouser and grey shirt and had a lean body. The police officials said that both suspects can be easily identified if presented.

Police have registered a case with clauses of anti-terrorism and have started an investigation.
