Mufti Naeem had passed away on Saturday due to cardiac arrest in Karachi, at the age of 62. The prominent cleric was being taken to the hospital when he passed away.
Speaking to The Express Tribune prior to his funeral, religious scholars said Mufti Naeem was a great leader who spent his life in accordance with the teachings of the Quran and Sunnah. They praised him for always standing by the truth and representing clerics in an exemplary manner at various forums.
Mourning the loss, they pledged to provide all possible support to keep Jamia Binoria International, which he had founded, flourishing.
The funeral was attended by prominent religious scholars, his students and several others. Notable personalities who attended the funeral included Wafaqul Madaris general secretary Qari Muhammad Hafeez Jalandhari, Jamia Ashraful Madaris administrator Maulana Hakeem Azhar, Maulana Imran Ashraf Usmani of Jamia Darul Uloom, Merajul Huda Siddiqui of Jamaat-e-Islami and Dr Saeed Afridi of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf, among others.
Mufti Naeem is survived by his wife, three sons and two daughters.
