Compliance committees to implement lockdown

Officials will enforce SOPs in sealed localities

RAWALPINDI: Five compliance committees have been formed to ensure that people follow the lockdown imposed in the 23 virus hotspots of Rawalpindi after emergence of coronavirus clusters.

A day after 23 areas of Rawalpindi city and the cantonment areas were sealed, Deputy Commissioner Anwarul Haq has formed five compliance committees headed by two assistant commissioners to ensure implementation of the lockdown.

The members of the committees have been directed to stay in the virus hotspot areas. The committees include officers from police, revenue department, agriculture department, excise and taxation department, food department and tehsil administration.

The committees will ensure implementation of lockdown SOPs including maintenance of social distancing, wearing of masks and glove, besides provision of medicines and food, as directed in the notification issued by the deputy commissioner office Rawalpindi. It further states that the home department has declared 22 areas of Rawalpindi as hotspots for coronavirus.

Two committees have been formed under the chairmanship of assistant commissioner Ahmed Sohail. DSP City Tariq Mehboob Awan, DSP Waris Khan Chaudhry, Asr Ali and ASP Newtown Imran Khan have been made as in-charge of the committees. Three committees have been formed under the supervision of assistant commissioner Ramesha Javed in which ASP Cantt Kamran Hameed and ASP Civil Lines have been appointed in charges. SHO Sadiqabad Police Station and SHO Newtown Police Station will also be included in the committees, while SHO Civil Lines, SHO Race Course and SHO RA Bazaar in Cantt areas will also be included in the committees. Compliance checking committees will play a role in ensuring the implementation of the lockdown as well as the implementation of the Corona SOPs.
